AEMFI and the International Labor Organization have signed an MOU on the 12th of October 2022 at AEMFI’s office, which marks the beginning of a new collaboration.
ILO will provide a Financial Education certification training to AEMFI’s member MFIs and Provision of the ILO capacity building programme in micro insurance to MFIs and a selection of relevant private sector stakeholders. The program aims to bring sustainable solutions to MFIs capacity gaps.
The different activities which could be implemented in the framework of the collaboration between AEMFI and the ILO PROSPECTS project in Ethiopia are: Promotion of the ILO Financial Education programme’s outreach; Capacity development and technical assistance provided to AEMFI’s member MFIs in micro insurance management; Capacity building and technical assistance provided to a selection of AEMFI’s member MFIs to improve the management of their microfinance operations and Research and knowledge management on the activities developed under the ILO-AEMFI collaboration.
Trainees will be certified after successful completion of the Financial Education Training certification module. This is expected to build a strong base of national trainers, able to roll out the training to refugees and host communities. The objective of the micro insurance TOT would be for the ILO to build the capacities of AEMFI’s member MFIs in microinsurance management, through ILO flagship training programmes. This will ensure that AEMFI’s member MFIs have the necessary capacities to extend appropriate financial products and services to refugees and host communities.
